VIVID 2006

The Lypt bookcase (seen here) was accepted for display on the VIVID stand at Furnitex 2006. I was fortunate to receive Artflight funding from ArtsWA who helped to get the Lypt and I over to Sydney and Melbourne. Rob Finlayson was particularly helpful guiding me through the application process.

I'd never been in an exhibition before and was expecting some degree of chaos. When I saw the scale of the proceedings at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, I was almost sure of it , so I was doubly impressed by the organisational skills and helpfulness of Curator, Uli Hasel.

One of the conditions of entry for VIVID is that you are available at the stand to answer questions and so on. The 'real estate' was exceptional, in being only metres from the cafe and seeing other exhibitor's work was really inspiring, but the scenery was pretty static for an exhibition that ran for four days.

Luckily I met the Swinburne contingent of Joseph Keenan (Vertebral), Moss MacGibbon (Pin Perch) and Robyn Rothenberger (Iris) as well as the the UTS graduates, Nick Karlovasitis, Sarah Gibson and Tasman Wallworth (Lander).

These guys were more than good company; they helped out with physically moving my exhibit, answering peoples' questions in my absence and sharing their knowledge on questions of my own.
